Systems Administrator
Author of Security In the Dark. More than a decade of hands-on IT, from helping someone who just can't sign in to working production issues with enterprise engineering teams. I find the actual cause, fix it, and write it down so it stays fixed.
01 / What I do
I'm seeking a long-term role in systems administration and IT support. Here's the work I can take off your plate on day one.
Tier 1 and Tier 2 tickets, sign-in and password problems, slow or broken workstations, printers, peripherals, drivers and mobile devices. Remote or in person, explained in plain language.
Windows, Linux and macOS: user accounts and permissions, software deployment, patching and updates, services, storage, logs, performance and backups, all from the GUI or the command line.
New-hire computer setup, account provisioning, access control and offboarding, with permissions kept to what each person actually needs.
TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VPNs, firewalls and routers. I trace connectivity problems to the real cause, including when it isn't the network at all.
Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud: identity and access management, authentication, permissions and cloud-hosted applications.
Endpoint and network security, system hardening, access reviews and vulnerability spotting as part of everyday administration, not an afterthought.
Logs, configs and methodical troubleshooting to find why something failed, then clean escalations to engineering with the evidence already gathered.
Clear runbooks and knowledge-base articles, plus Bash, PowerShell and Python scripts that take repetitive work off the queue.
02 / About
I'm an IT professional with more than a decade of experience across systems administration, enterprise technical support, help desk, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, software and computer hardware.
I've supported everyday users with workstation, software, account, hardware and connectivity problems, and I've worked the harder cases too: Linux, cloud infrastructure, databases, authentication, networking, security, APIs and production systems.
I'm comfortable explaining a problem to someone with very little computer experience, and just as comfortable working alongside engineering teams when an issue gets deep. I use command-line tools, system logs, configuration files, network diagnostics and methodical troubleshooting to get to the real cause.
I'm looking for a stable, long-term role as a Systems Administrator, Help Desk Technician, IT Support Technician, Desktop Support Technician or Infrastructure Support Technician, where I can bring that broader experience into a hands-on environment and keep growing with the team.

06 / Projects
Outside the day job I build full systems end to end: cloud backends, mobile apps, security and the operations behind them.
A platform for independent insurance producers: client conversations, scheduling that syncs with Google and iCloud calendars, CRM, SMS and email, licensing and compliance checks, and multi-agency organizations.
An agent-driven system for designing, reviewing and listing print-on-demand products, built spec-first with human approval gates so nothing ships without review.
Mobile application development and the systems support behind it: device testing, Firebase and Firestore backends, authentication, and closing the gap between local and cloud environments.
07 / Writing
Cybersecurity · C1PHER Group
A hands-on cybersecurity engineering apprenticeship in book form. It isn't a certification cram guide; it teaches the work itself.
Thirty-three chapters take the reader from onboarding through Linux, Windows and macOS internals, endpoints, networking, identity and trust, security operations and incident response, and finally data, risk and the cloud. Along the way the reader builds Project Sentinel, a working security toolset in Python that grows chapter by chapter from a collector into a full pipeline.
Every concept is taught the same way: a plain-language explanation, an analogy, a figure, the professional terminology, the system internals, an enterprise example, a hands-on lab, Python automation, troubleshooting and a challenge. It maps to the current CompTIA Security+ and ISC2 SSCP objectives, with appendices covering PowerShell, Bash and zsh side by side, OS logging locations and forensic acquisition.
“Never teach a command. Teach the system. Never teach a tool. Teach why the tool exists.”
Fiction · Alternate history
An alternate-history novel that follows the 77th Infantry Division through the Pacific War, from training in the American West to the fight for Guam.
The series continues with The Weight of Ash, set on Leyte. Fiction draws on the same habits as IT work: careful research, attention to detail, and following every thread back to where it started.
